Yes. Steve Wood offers online sessions across Australia in addition to in-person sessions on the Gold Coast, so location isn't a barrier to getting support. Many clients mix formats, starting online and moving to in-person or outdoor sessions later, or vice versa.
Trauma-informed therapy recognises how past trauma shapes a person's thoughts, emotions, and behaviour today, and prioritises safety, trust, and choice throughout the therapeutic process. Rather than asking "what's wrong with you," it asks "what happened to you." Steve draws on Compassion-Focused Therapy, CBT, and somatic techniques within this framework.

Yes. If your GP has referred you with a Mental Health Care Plan, you can bring that referral to Heart Earth Alliance and Steve will work with it as part of your sessions. Speak to your GP first to arrange the referral and check your Medicare rebate entitlement, then get in touch to book your first session.
NDIS-funded counselling with Heart Earth Alliance is billed in line with current NDIS price guide rates, so most or all of the cost is covered by your plan if you have capacity building funds for therapeutic supports. Steve confirms exactly what's covered before your first paid session.

Steve offers targeted therapeutic social work interventions, adventure-based respite experiences, and support coordination or systems navigation for NDIS participants and their support networks, tailored to short-term needs or long-term planning.
Yes. Heart Earth Alliance works with married, de facto, dating, same-sex, and long-distance couples, using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and CBT to address communication breakdowns, trust issues, and life transitions, including couples who are considering separation.
Steve draws primarily on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which focuses on the emotional patterns and attachment needs underneath conflict, combined with practical CBT tools for communication. Sessions are structured around your specific issues, whether that's rebuilding trust, navigating a life transition, or improving day-to-day communication.
Outdoor adventure therapy uses nature-based activities such as bushwalking, single-day programs, or multi-day expeditions, as a setting for therapeutic work, rather than a traditional office session. Time in nature is linked with reduced stress and improved emotional regulation, and shared physical activity often helps people open up more naturally than sitting across a desk.
Yes. Steve works with individuals across the lifespan, including children and young people, and adapts outdoor programs to suit their age, needs, and comfort level, from a single supported walk to a longer respite-style experience.
